HARVEST THANKSGIVING^ Special harvest thanksgiving services were held in the North-east Valley Baptist Church on Sunday, there being a good attendance in the morning and a full clurrch at night. The Rev. D. S. Mason preached both morning and evening. Last night, in the Town Hall, a harvest festival was held, the proceeds of which go to the manse fund. Good business was done, and during an interval between seven and eight o'clqck a numr-'ir of musical items were given, the performers being Miss Dove, Mrs Medlin, Madame Von Look, and Mr J. White. The Baptist Church choir, under the conductorship of Madame Von Look, gave, several selections from "The Haymakers.' The stallholders were:—■ Drapery and fancy goods—Mesdames Mason and Medlin ; prodv.ee—Mesdames John and J. W. Coombs, Mr David Calder; refreshments—-Misses Bailey, Mason, Mesdames D. Calder, Willoughby; oyster saloon—Messrs J. and J. W. Coombs; bran tub—Mr J. Findon. ANDERSON BAY GLEE CLUB. The Anderson Bay Glee Club opened their 1909 season last night with the annual business meeting. Mr Jeffery (president of the club) was in the chajr. The first annual report and balance-sheet, submitted to the meeting, showed that the club had had a successful year musically, and also are on the right side financially. The following were elected officers of the club for 1909:—President, Mr Jas. Jeifery (re-elected); conductor, Mr H. B. Austing (re-elected); pianist, Miss Mary O. White; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. T. Wilson (re-elected); librarian, Mr W. F. Meek (re-elected); committee—Mesdames •Meek and Bennet, Messrs Smith and Lorimer. Votes of thanks were passed to the retiring officers. The club regret the loss of several valuable members through departure from Dunedin, including Mr and Mrs Barrett. An interesting selection of music has been received from London, and will be put into practice at once.
