SAILING RACES.

RAVENSBOURNE BOATING CLUB. The annual race for the local challenge cup and the second series of club races were sailed over the club's course on Saturday. The weather was everything that could be desired. A nice full-sail northeaster, bright sunshine, and a field of ten tioats presented a sight that will not be soon lorgotten. Needless to say, with such a large number of boats starting at once, close shaves were numerous, but good seamanship carried the day, and at tho mananivring for the start' and throughout the race no accidents occurred. The results are as follow* :

f/jcal Cup.—Nell (Mahs and Co., 18ioiin), lh 35min 22sec, 1; Lass (George and Co., ll£min), lh 30min 13sec, '2; Revenge_ (M'Culloch, 3min 45sec), lh 23min 33sec. 3; Waiinana (Webber and Co., scratch), lb 20min 24sec, 4. Also started : Vagabond, Viking. Ires, Rambler, Goldseeker.

First Class Club Race.—Lennox Lass 1, Carina 2. Revenge 5. Also started : Waimana. Vagabond. Irex. Second Class Club Race.—Nell 1, Viking 2, Rambler 3. Also started : Goldseeker.

PORT CHALMERS SAILING CLUB. The above club sailed another series of races on Saturday, a north-east breeze prevailing. In The 20-footers. Williamiua, which led all the way. crossed the line an easv winner, but failed to give May (the onlv other competitor) her time allowance of'twelve minutes. Result :—Mav (12min), lh 14min Usee, 1; Williamiua (scratch), lh 19min 44sec, 2. h\ the 16-footers Vision had no trouble in finishing ahead of Vigilant, with Mamie a jjood third, but on the handicap being worked out the raw resulted :—-Mamie (lOnun), lh 18min 6sec. 1 : Vision (scratch), lh 22min 44scc, 2; Vigilant (oOscc). lh 25min 44sec, 3.

In the Keel Race Dove (scratch), lh 6min 7sec, easily accounted for Lilv ilOmni), lh lomin 50sec.

May and Mamie are leading for the cup in their respective races. The season closes on March 20.
