The stocks on hand are heavy, and widely distributed amongst agents, who are pushing sales. .Largo saipments are coming forward and prospects are unfavorable, as buyers are not inclined to make a forward purchase at present prices. Lamb.—The market is weak, and stocks are heavy and dull of sale for all brands Current quotations: Canterbury, b'-A; other than Canterbury, 4gd ; Australian, 4<l.

Beef.—The market is steady. There is a better demand for hindquarters at 2i<T; forequarters, si<l. Butter.—The market in quiet but steady, with an increasing demand for better guides, but less for second-class quality. Choicest New Zealand is quoted at 106sDanish, 115s; Australian, 10os; Argentine 105s; and Siberian, 102s. Cheese.—The market i s firm, with an improved demand. Colored makes, for which the demand exceeds the supply, are quoted at 645, and while at 60s per cwt. Hemp.—The market is quiet, with small business doing. Holders are more willing to sell. Current quotations are as follows 7 —On spot, good fair grade, £23 10s; failgrade, £22: fair current Manila, £25; April-June shipments, good fair grade, £25 ss; fair grade, £2l 15s; fair current Manila, £22 ss. The stock in London is 204 tons. J.a?t week's Manila output amounted to 25.000 bales.

Cocksfoot Seed.—No alteration in the market since last week.

Wool.—Market firm, with more iiviuii'v cspecially for fine quality. * '
