CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
Messrs D. MT’herson (president), J. M. Gallaway, H. Salmon, J. Loudon, Cl. R, Ritchie, J. W. Henton, Waiter Gkwj Crosby Morris, and Thomas Glendining attended the monthly meeting of the Committee of the Chamber of Commerce held yesterday afternoon.
A letter was received from the AttorneyGeneral inviting .suggestions as to the amendment of the bankruptcy law. Messrs Salmon, Henton, and Gallaway were appointed a sab-committee to consider the question and report. A member wrote directing attention to the case of a creditor who had willed insurance money to a. brother who had never been a resident of New Zealand, to the exclusion of creditors in the Dominion. It was asked that steps be taken to have the law amended so as to prevent this from occurring in other cases.—Referred to a sub-committee.
The president and the secretary were appointed delegates to the conference of chambers of commerce to be held in Wellington on April 13., It was resolved that the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Amendment Act concerning the investment of Corporation sinking funds be suggested for consideration by the conference.
