Mr Lloyd-George (Chancellor of tie Exchequer), in the course of an interview at Carlsbad, discussed the prospects of an entente with Germany. ‘ The Times ’ refers to the rumor of his intention to visit Berlin and the Black Forest residence of Admiral Tirpitz (Minister of the Navy).. The ‘Spectator’ protests against the growing tendency of Ministers to deal in public with matters outside of their own departments. REDUCTION URGED. BERLIN, August IS. The ‘Frankfurter Zeitung ’ urges a reduction or restriction in naval armaments, especially on the part of Germany and Great Britain. t The paper makes the admission that Germany’s financial position imperatively demands the adoption of such a course.
