SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

The monthly meeting of the Musselburgh School Committee last night was attended by Messrs Ewing (chainpan), Gore, Mollison, Cameron, Matthews, Jacobsen, Aslin, and Harris. A communication was received from the Education Board notifying'that half-wit of improvements to schbol grounds had been sanctioned, and it was decided to proceed at once witli flip asphalting, levelling, etp., decided on. 'lt was "rjjsqlved to’ prepare’ a piece of ground for the use of the children’ as a garden.’ The head-master (Mr White) reported that the school had been examined by the Board’s inspectors, and that the result was of a gratifying write to Mr asking 'him to convey to the teaching staff and the children tie Committee’s congratulations on a year’s successful work. The action of the chairman and secretary in arranging for thp closing of the school until August ft was endorsed. It was re plyed that the secretary write to the St. Kilda Council drawing attention to the state of the ditch in front of the school, and suggesting certain improvements, Tpe Visiting Committee for this month are Messrs Ewing and Cameron, apd they were instructed to arrange with the teaching Staff for a concert to be given by the school children at an early date. The question pf a school savings bank was discussed, and {tWas decided tp start one as spon as the new rooms were erected, the matter to be left in the hands of Mr Cameron to make preliminary arrangements.
