DEATHS FROM CONSUMPTION

MELBOURNE, August 2. (Received August 2. at 10.23 a. m ) The City Health Officer states that in 1903 there were 227 deaths per thousand of population within the city area, from consumption. In 1904 they fell to 172, and last year to 142. He believes that the time will soon come when the from consumption will be reduced one-half.
