CR GORE'S ALLEGATION.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I have been surprised, in reading through your columns, to see that only one letter has apjieared commenting on the allegation made by Cr Gore at tho last meeting of tho City Council with respect to the conductors and the token checks. It would be a shame to allow the statement mad© by this councillor, reflecting, as it does, on the character of so many honest men, to go unchallenged. How Cr Gore makes out that the conductors can pocket anything out of the tickets puzzles me. For the amount of cash checks sold the conductors must have cash to balance, and for the amount of token checks sold they must, too, have tokens to balance. Cr Gore, sir, should be made to either publicly prove his case or apologise. Trusting tha't justice will be done to tho conductors I am, etc., Fairplay. July 25.
