The Sydney banks have notified alterations in the rates of exchange on London similar to those prevailing in the other States and in New Zealand. The compiler of agricultural statistics has just completed a bulletin showing the expansion of the producing industry in the last decade—i.e., from April 1, 1897, to March 31, 1905. The total area of New Zealand is 66,541,120 acres, of which 37.167,460 acres is in occupation. The holdings in the North Island have increased by 5.525 in six years, and in the south bv 1,651. Horses have increased since 1897 from 250,247 te 326,966, cattle from 1.138,067 to 1.810,936 (including d;ury cattle from 300,219 to 517,720), and swine from 209,834 to 249,727. Sheep have decreased from 19,138.495 to 19,130,875. FROZEN MEAT MARKET. .The Colonial Consignment and Distributing Company (Napier) have been advised by cable that frozen meat prices are unchanged. MUTUAL MONEY CLUB. annual meeting of the Dunedin and Suburban Mutual Money Club was held at the secretary’s office, Water street, last night, Mr R. Farrant (president) occupying the chair. In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet, the Chairman stated that he thought it was only right that a word of praise should be said in recognition of the large amount of work done by their secretary (Mr Hugh Mitchell) in bringing the club to its present satisfactory position, and also that the services of their solicitor (Mr J. G L- Hewitt) should be acknowledged for the tune and attention he had given to the business of the club. -To show that increasing public interest was being taken in tire club, ho might mention that twentyone shares had been annlied for since the annual report was drawn up.-—Mr J. S. Hislop seconded the motion, which was carried without discussion. The following office-bearers were elected President. Mr R. Farrant (reelected) ; trustees, Messrs ,T. 8. Hislop and IT. Stokes: auditor, Mr F. T. Anderson (at a remuneration of two guineas).—On the motion of Mr Hewitt, seconded by Mr H. Stokes, rule 5, providing for the payment of subscriptions on Monday evenings, was altered so as to nermit of payments being made at anv time during office hours.—The Secretary exrdained that only two members ever came to pay their subscriptions in the evening, and these would be notified of the change.
