The increase of the cost over that of last report is duo to repairs to pontoons and cost of the blast of last month. Various Works.—The old wharf at Stuart street is being dismantled. Piles in the V ictona channel are being straightened and redriven where necessary. Tho discharge pipes of the Vulcan where worn through have been encased in cement and wirenetting. The docking of the wharf at the junction of cross one/* .Rattray wharves is hein^r extended, in order to give a better approach te the cross wharf. The water trough in Wharf street has been renewed-
