The members of St. Paul's Cathedral Choir presented Mias Ethel Clarke with some slight token of their esteem and regard prior to her departure for Melbourne. The Ven. Archdeacon Robinson, in making the presentation, expressed great regret that the Cathedral was losing the services of so valuable a member. The presentation oonsisted of a handsomelybound Cathedral Service and Hymnal. Mr Dickinson returned thanks on behalf of the recipient.

At a representative gathering. of business people and residents of Tapanui Mr aind Mrs P. M'Cann, who were recently burnt out-, were presented with a purse of 100 sovereigns. Leyland) explained was to congratulate him on having reached his seventy-first year, and to present him _ with a gold Maltese cross suitably inscribed, a silvermounted walking stick, a cigaretteholder, a matchbox, and a pocket-book from his friends. In making the presentation, Mr Leyland referred to the esteem in which Mr Hargreaves was held by all. The entertainment consisted of a Highland fling, an Irish jig, and sailor's hornpipe danced by the Misses Leyland (3). Songs were given by Messrs Brady, J. Douglas, and R. Richardson. Miss E. Graham acted as accompanist, and Pipe-major J. M'Kechnie also contributed to the evening's amusemeut.
