(Received June 19, at 10 a.m.) Speaking at Amcliffe, Mr Carmthera announced that the Lands Department would bo placed under Commissioners. Ho claimed that tho. Goyermnept’s closer settlement policy had placed 15,000 people on ' the land, and predicted that at the end of the year, after paying £450,000 off tlie 'sinking fund, a surplus of £1,000,000 would be shown.
