W.C.T.U. CONVENTION.

(HySYMQTJTIJ. March 21. At the W.C.T.U Convention to-day the president, in her address., dealt with the advance made i" the No-license vote, and deplored the ,negiect of the Redaction vote. She computed that had all the No-licence voters in the colony struck out "the top I line only" from the time that Local Option i,legislation was intrpdnced, from' ope-third to two-fifths of the bars in New Zealand would liave ceased to exist. Sympathetic reference was made to the Joss sustained through the promotion to a higher sea-vice of Mrs Sehnackenberg apd Mrs Johnson, cf Auckland, Mis of Gisbome, Mrs Williams and Mrs Kitson, of Nelson, _and Mr? Oomberwoith, of Ngaire. Resolutions were passed expressing the hope that Christian Governments would resort to arbitration in the settling of their differences, and so avert war. deploring the spirit of militarism sometimes' fostered in the young, and calling upon parents to teach their children the nobility of adjusting quarrels in another way than by force Of arms, and affirming the desirability of the removal of all disabilities now imposed ! uDon women in civil or life;
