The dutha Presbytery have nominated the Rev. A. Don, Chinese missionary, as moderator of the Otago Synod. "Our Own" at Cbristchurch wiresj— Private cable message states that Mr Leonard Greenwood, 8.A., son of the Official Assignee of this city, has been elected a fellow of King's College, Gambridge. It is believed that Mr Greenwood is the first New Ztealander on whom the honor has been conferred.
Mr Piper, of Invercargill, will take up his duties in charge of the local railway traffic office on Monday. Mr Grant, whose place Mr Piper will temporarily fill, is going away on holiday leave, as has already been stated.
Mr T. J. CbttrrrE, the dentist, died at bis residence, Ravenswood road, St Clair, shortly before one o'clock this morning. He had been seriously ill for only a fihart time, bnt it was an old trouble—hemorrhage of the lungs—that laid him by, and a startling relapse late yesterday evening ended m death within three hours. Mrs Collins is left with, one child. The community generally will - read this paragraph with sincere regret, for Mr Collins was a straightforward and highly respected man. He occupied a prominent place in his profession, having commanded a leading practice from the time he settled in Dunedin. He had a good deal to do with managing the recent conference of dentists in this City. His private hobby was golfing, and the St Ckir Club will feel bis loss.
