£50,000 FOR THE GASWORKS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—As a somewhat large ratepayer I propose to vote against this proposed loan. The councilors can give no guarantee that the expenditure will be wifely carried out, and do not express unqualified confidence in their sas engineer. The City is not now in a. position to waste money, or even to risk the waste of money; hence my decision, which I hope will be imitated by all ratepayers who think that we are moving rather too fast,—l am, etc., Bpbgess.
