AN ACKNOWLEDGMENT

The following communication, bearing the signature “ A Headmaster," has been addressed to the editor of this paper : Sir, —Now that the Teachers’ Superannuation Rill and the Education Act Amendment Bill, which provides for an all - round and materia) increase of salaries to teachers who were admittedly inadequately paid, have practically become law, 1 should like to express the thanks of a large number of my fellow-teachers to you for the consistent and hearty manner in which yon have supported these two measures, not only through the medium of your paper, but also as a private individual. We feel that your advocacy has helped materially in the struggle teachers have had to secure reasonable remuneration ‘ for their servicer and fair provision for the lime when old ago will unfit them for their work. Though the Superannuation Bill just passed by the Government does not make that provision for past service which teachers feel they are justly entitled to, and which you have all along advocated, yet it will be found, I think, to confer on teachers entering the service benefits equal to those afforded by the Railway and Police Superannuation Funds. Teachers have been fortunate in having had for a number of years the sympathy and support of the ‘ Star ’ whenever they have advocated reforms of a reasonable and equitable nature.
