In 'the House the Premier moved a resolution recording sympathy with the relatives of Mr Saunders, and placing on record its high sense of the distinguished services rendered to the colony by the deceased. The Premier referred in feeling terms to the deceased legislator, and also to his great services to New Zealand. Mr Lewis seconded the motion, and after several others had spoken the House adjourned till the afternoon. THE HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLES. In reply to Mr Vile, who asked whether it was intended to discontinue the High Commissioner’s cables, the FoetmasterGeneral replied : No. On the contrary, it was intended to extend the system by expending an extra £2OO per year in order to get the closest quotations at the latest moment regarding colonial produce. With regard to the Methylated Spirits Bill the Extension of Commerce Committee reported that whilst the question will require the careful attention of the Customs Department dt has not been made clear that the passing of the Bill this session is a matter of urgency. Regarding the point raised as to the spirits bring used for adulterating articles for drinking purposes, the evidence taken by the Committee did not disclose any such tendency. THE END AT LAST. In reply to the Leader of the Opposition, the Premier said that he hoped to get the Supplementary Estimates circulated by 5.3(5, and to finish the business to-night.
