MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES
At the half-yearly meeting of Linden Lodge, U.A.0.D., held in the lodge room on Tuesday evening, the bal-ance-sheet for the half-year ended December, 1004, was read by the secretary, showing an increase in funds of £29 6s 2d, besides paying £29 6s 8d in sick pay. The auditors reported the accounts to be well kept, and everything in a satisfactory condition. The election of officers resulted as follows :—J.P.A., Bro, John Swanson; A.D., Bro. Joseph Lloyd; Y.A., Bro. James O’Brian; A.D. bards, Bros. G. Newman and Barton Hamiess; secretary, Bro. T. Sunderland (re-elected); treasurer, Bro. Frank Farley (re-elected); V. bards, Bros. Alexander Ramsay and William Duncan; 1.D.G., Bro. William A. More; 0.D.G., Bro. Francis Clough; G.L.R., P.D.P. Bro. ■ Barton Harmless (D.P. No. 1 District); P.A., Bro. John W. Hill (Ivanhoe Lodge). The officers were duly installed by D.P. Bro. Mitchell, $ assisted by D.G.V.P. Bro. J. Bryant. A vote of thanks was accorded to the initalling officers. D.P, Bro. Mitchell, on behalf of the lodge, presented a P.A. diploma to P.A. Bro. W. A, More, Visi-
tors were D.P. Bro. Mitchell, D.G.V.P, Bro. J. Bryant, and V.A. Bro. Robertson (Otago Lodge). Receipts, £3 16s 9d. At the weekly meeting of the Rescue Lodge of Good Temnlars, held in the South Dunedin Presbyterian Schoolroom, representatives from the Hope of Caversham, Pioneer, and Evergreen Lodges were received officially. Bro. Comissiong spoke on the good of tho Order. Harmony was contributed by Bro. M‘Connell (piano selection), Bro, Hilton (song), Sis. Barton (recitation), Bro. Joyce (songl, Bro.- Jones (song), Bro. M'Conndl (song), Sis. B._ South (recitation), Sis Peterson (recitation). A vote of sympathy was passed to Bro. and Sis. Whale in , the loss they have sustained by the death of their daughter. A vote of thanks to the visitors was responded to by Bro. Jones (Cosmopolitan Lodge, New York), BrC.; ~ M'Connell (Hope of Caversham), Bro. Finder (Alliance), and Bro. Watson (Evergreen). The Pioneer of Dunedin Lodge, 1.0. G.T., held their first meeting for the new year on Tuesday , evening in the Lower Choral Hall, Bro.. Comissiong, C.T., presiding. There was a large attendance of members and visitors, the Alliance Lodge attending officially. A vote of sympathy with Bro. and Si?; Whale on the death of their daughter was unanimously accorded.
