ATHLETICS

A meeting of the Otago Centre, A.Z.A.A.A., held last night, was attended by Messrs W. Lang (president, in the chair), A. Marryatt and R. W. BriokeU (vice-presidents), A. Hoare and J. Mooney (D.A.A.C.), G. Moreton (Y.M.O.A) W T. Parata (0.R.), W. J. O'Kane (N. 0.), R' J. Jackson (D.H.), R. G. Anderson (Gore), and H. Mackintosh (0.5., honorary secretary) . A list of standards as drawn up by a sub-committee was adopted, and it was resolved that badges be given in the case of the Otago championships run by the Otago Centre or granted to clubs under its jurisdiction.

The D.A.A-0. were granted permission to bold the 220 yds Otago and Southland championship for 1904-06, on February 11, at the club's annual sports meeting, medals »f the value of £3 and £2 being provided by the club.

Letters were received from the U.Z.A.A.A. in referenoo to the visit of Messrs Shrubb and Duffy. Messrs Shrubb and Daffy left London oh Saturday, December 31, for Australia. No information had been received regarding Morton, and the Council were therefore forced to conclude that he.waa not making the trip. The Council had decided to arrange for some of Australia's best runners to compete at the New Zealand championships in Christ•hureh, and asked whether tho Centre Wished these men to compete at Dunedin lb was resolved—"That this Centre is not >n favor of the addition of the Australians to the team."

A sab-committee, consisting of the president (Mr W. Lang), secretary (Mr H. Mackintosh, convener), Messrs Marryatt OKane, Jackson, Hoare, Briekell, ahdMorftn, was appointed to carry out all arrangements in connection with the meeting to be held here on' March 11. W. MTDonald's application for reinstatement was forwarded to Christchutch with this Centre's recommendation for favorable consideration.
