In completing the team Howell and Cottor were picked without hesitation, but there is reason to believe that there was a grave difference of opinion among the selectors over the other two. Noble is understood to have desired two more bowlers, but was overruled. The team leave for Auckland on February L INTER-STATE CRICKET. In the match between New South Wales and South Australia, which was finished at Sydney yesterday, the latter made 185 runs m their second innings (Pellew 53). Cotter took seven wickets for 77 runs and Hopkins two for 55. New South Waks in their second venture scored the necessary ITO runs for the loss of three wickets, and therefore won by seven wickets. Trumper made 76 and Waddy (not out) 43.
