The bye-ekction for Stalybridge resulted as follows:—Mr J. P. Obeetham (Liberal), 4,029; Mr Travis Clegg (Conservative)' 3,078.
[At the General jEfectkm in 1900 the Hon. Matthew White Ridley (C.) was returned by 3,321 votes, Mr Cneetham polling 3,240.] *^
