Lord Lnverclyde, chairman of the Canard line, speaking at a meeting in Liverpool, said that if the company were hampered by increased dock charges they would transfer their fast skips to another port. They already paid higher dues than their rivals in Southampton, HavTe, Bremen, and Hamburg.
