A London cable advises that Mr W. J. Ford, the well-known cricketer, is dead". At St. Paul's Cathedral oa Sunday last (Lastcr Day) Mr Wathen sang the tenor solos in the selections from Stainer. On the occasion of her resigning her post at the Industrial School at Caversham owing to her approaching marriage, Miss Arnold Robertson was presented by the staff of the school with a suitably "inscribed marble clock. The presentation was made by Mr G. M. Burlin.';on, the manager of the school, who in the course °of his remarks spoke in high terms of commendation of the loyalty and efficient service rendered by Miss Robertson while on the stall of the school (over four years}, and referred to the high position she must have occupied in the regard of her coworkers, since everyone connected in the school had taken the greatest interest in the presentation. Mr Burlinson mentioned that in losing the services of Miss Robertson the school would suffer a distinct loss, and her invariable eveness of temper, obliging disposition, loyalty to the institution, and faithfulness in the discharge of her duties were qualities well worthy of emulation. After the presentation the members of the- staff and their friends had a- social evening as a farewell to Miss Robertson, and various amusements and games were indulged in.
