MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES

At the weekly -meeting of the Alliance Lodge, 1.0. G.T., held in the Friendlv Societies' Hall, South Dunedin, Bro. C. Hunt, C.T., presiding, one candidate was initiated. Business was then suspended, and the door? thrown open for visitors and friends. A lengthy programme, consisting of songs, recitations, and addresses, was gone through, and a pleasant evening spent. Songs were given by Sisters M'Connell, Cooke, Bros. Caddie (encored), Robinson, and McMillan (encored), and recitations by Sisters B. South and Smith and Bro. M r ConnelL Re-

frcshments having been handed round, Bro. Crolly gave a pianoforte solo. Songs were rendered by Sis. Thorn and Bro. S. Stubbs and Bro. M'MiUan, and Bros. M'Connell, Merry, and Robinson gave short addresses on the good of the Order. The usual votes of thanks to the visitors, etc., wore responded to by Sis. South (Hope of Caversham), Bro. Caddie (Hope of Dunedin), Bro. Ell (Star of Freedom), Bro. M'Connell (Lily of the Valley), Sis. Cooke (PionerrS. ['!•>. Campbell. (All Nations). Bro.
