(Received December 12, at 8.55 a.m.) Gabrielle Bompard, the murderer of Touissant Gouffre, a process server, in 1891, was recently released. Professor Liegeois since then has hypnotised her in order to show that she really committed the crime under the hypnotic influence of a man. named Errand. Bompard, though utterly unconscious, reacted the scenes of the crime with horrible realism, I Bompard. who was sentenced to twenty yeaiV imprisonment, wa.s the mistress of Michel Eyraud. The two inveigled Gouffre to their rooms, and there murdered him. Eyraud was executed. The trial wis rendered notorious through an extraordinary outbreak among the public after sentence had been pronounced. Men and women in thi "highest" society, and bearing famous historic names, levelled a torrent, of the foulest talk at Judge, counsel, and jury.]
