GRAIN. The market just now is in an almost stagnant condition, as owing to the bad weather lately experienced practically no inpplie* are coming forward.
FRUIT AND PRODUCE MARKET.
Business for Hie week has been fairly brisk, and prices lor good fruit are weU
maintained but inferior lines are very slow of sale, and at smaUer rates. Oranges are atm m good supply at from 5s to 6s per m case, while lOin cases, containing sound repacks, command 7s 6d to 10s. A line of Messma oranges is to be offered toc °Y- A. shipment of bananas from a ■ , arnve d> but a portion were in r ?._. Bn °r condition. Those in good condition realised up to 10s 9d a case, others from 5s to 7s 6d. Pines sold from 8s to ~ Pears, the market has improved * oij c^°'ce dessert sorts bring 2d to 2id lb others lid to IJd. The market is still we'd supplied nfih apples, choiet dessert realising 2d to 2*d lb, and medium od to 5s 6d case. Best cooking are quoted at Ud to l*d lb, and others 2s to ik CaS tii Teviot P. eaches command 3d to 4d in. _ Plums are in good inquiry, and any commg forward axe quitted at good rates—v:., 2d to 4d lb, according to variety and quality. Pi e melons bring 6s 6d to 7s cwt, and marrows 6s 6d to 7s sack. In tomatoes the market is improving, best hothouse bringing 5d to 6d lb, and outsidegrown 3d to sj|rd. Grapes are rather in under-supply, and prices Lave risen accordmgly to from 8d to Is lb. Cauliflowers realise from 3s to 4s sack. Potatoes are fairly steady at from £3 6s to £3 16s per ton. Onions (Canterburygrown) realise £4 10s to £5. The market is almost bare of eggs, prices ruling from Is 8d dozen upwards. Sales are reported as high as Is lOd. There is also fair inquiry for preserved eggs at Is 2d to Is 3d dozen.
In poultry the market has now recovered from.the glut it experienced last week, just before Easter. Prices now run as follow at per pas :—Ducks, 3 S 6d to 4s 6d; hens, 2s 3d to 2s 6d; roosters, 5a 6d to 4s; geese, 4s 6d to 7s; turkey cocks, 7d to 8d lb; hens (heavy birds), 4£d to sd.

Best bullocks brought £l2 17s 6d; gopd, £10; best cows, £9 ; extra, £10; good, £/ os. Best beef, 33s per 1001b.
