The third annual meeting of members of the above classes will be held in the Forbury School Gymnasium on Tuesday, the ALst mst., when the following report will be presented to the members :—“ The 1902 season must be considered a satisfactory one, and the Committee have much pleasure m reviewing its most prominent features At the beginning of the season the membership promised to be a large one, and the roll totalled no less than 32 members in (.be young ladies class, o2 members in the senior class for young men, and 20 in the junior class; but in the second quarter the membership in the young men’s class, both senior and junior, fell away considerably. It is to be hoped that in the incoming season the young men of the district will endeavor to make this class one of the best around the suburbs. lire young ladies’ class maintained its strength very well in the second quarter, there being a membership of 30. The improvement in the gymnastic work, however t was very manifest, and reflected great credit on Instructor J. G. Smith, for the manner in which he had brought on the ?? P t - commencement the season Mr J. E. Offen, a member of the School Gommittee, intimated that he would give a gold medal to ,the best all-round gymnast m Hie young men’s senior class, and at the end of the season the medal was secured by Mr G. Brown one o flash year’s junior class members. The improvement that he showed in the senior class this year proves that he paid attention to his instructor, and by so doing he well earned Mr OfFen’s trophy. Mr Smith presented a silver medal to the best gymnast in the young ladies class, and Miss L. Parker tamed out to be the winner. There were other prizes given by Mr Smith, and the followmg were the winners Miss Johnson, Miss N Piddis, and Miss J. Craib. At the close of the season the members held a basket party, which was a great success. Mr D Ritchie, a member of the School Committee, acted as secretary for the classes, and he lent valuable aid to the members and the instructor (Mr J. C. Smith). The Committee have secured the services of Mr Ferguson as their instructor for the incoming season, and it is to be.hqped. that there will befia large membership in both dosses,” . - ,
