VOLUNTEER CAME AT BAREWOOD.

No. 1 Battalion O.R.V. mustered at the Garrison Hall on Thursday night for the purpose of proceeding to Barewood for the annual Easter manoeuvres. A good representation of the different corps paraded, and, headed by the Garrison Band, marched to the station. The B Battery, N.Z.F.A., and a detachment of Engineers also entrained, the latter for the purpose of assisting the battalion to establish communication between the outposts and the main camp. The following was tbe marching-in state : Staff: Brevet-colonel Robin, Lieutenantcolonel Smith, Major Myers, Acting-captain Nicolson, Captain Loasby (acting adjutant), Captain and Quartermaster MTndoe Sur-geon-major Will, Sergeant-majors Towler, Taylor, and Gillon, Quartermaster-sergeant Moncrieff.

Cycle Corps.—Lieutenant Wolstenhohne, 1 corporal, o privates—7. M Company, Green Island.—Captain MTlonald, 1 lieutenant, 3 sergeants, 4 corporals, 1 bngler, 13 privates—23. •Reveille was sonnded at 7.30 this morning. breakfast at eight, first parade 10 a.m., luncheon 12.30, parade 2 p.m., dinner 6, first post 9.30 p.m., lights out 10.30. Captain Stewart acting as orderly captain, with Lieutenant Souuess as orderly lieutenant. Colonel Robin, in addressing the men, said that the work of the camp would be chiefly outpost duties. Communication would be established between the sentries and the main camp by the aid of the signalling section of the Engineers. This was a preliminary to a camp in which the troops of the whole of the South Island would take part later in the year. After dinner the men were marched out to their posts, City Guards, Highland Rifles, and East Taieri furnishing the sentries, pickets, and supports respectively.
