The Upolu arrived from Northern porta this morning. The Monowai, contrary to expectation, arrived from Sydney via Cook Strait in time to come to town on the morning tide. She berthed at the cross wharf.

Russell reports that the barque Woosung, bound from the Bluff to Kaipara, had put in through stress of weather. The Waikato, from the Old Country via South Africa, is now overdue. Reckoning her speed, after her accident, at seven knots, she should be here to-morrow.

The Dumblane, which was towed up from Port yesterday, now lies at the Rattray street wharf. The barque Ganymede was also brought to town yesterday. The Kent sailed yesterday afternoon for South Africa via the Bluff and Australia.

During the voyage of the ship Neotsfield from London to Sydney a seaman named G. Rowley, a native of New Zealand, was washed overboard on the 31st August, during a gale qff the Cape of Good Hope, and drowned. The vessel had a sensational voyage, and was badly knocked about. NEW ORIENT STEAMERS. In addition*to the R.M.S. Orontes and the R.M.S. Victoria, which were launched recently from the shipbuilding yards of the Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Company, several other new vessels have lately been added to the extensive fleet of the Orient-Pacific Company. The Panama —the sister ship to the Victoria—launched in March last, is now in commission. • The steamship California, built by Messrs Caird and Co., of Greenock, is expected to be ready for delivery in a few weeks, and the Mexico, built by the same firm, is engaged in the trade; of the West Coast of South America. Another vessel, to be named tie Orita, is now in course of construction at the yards of Messrs Harland and Wolff, at Belfast, and will be launched in October. She will be provided with twin screws, and her tonnage will be. about 9,500. The Orita is intended for the Liverpool-Val-paraiso service. SffIPFOKJ TELEGRAMS.
