A submarine had been submerged for two hours off Cherbourg. Three of the crew became unconscious through carbonic acid gas poisoning. M. Pelletan has postponed further trials. •

The French Government have purchased the plans of the Berthon submarine boat for £B,OOO, and are building twenty of them.
