THE PAKEHA CLUB.
Tno newly-formed Pakpba Club held a social evening in the Imperial Hotel on Friday. Mr .1. F. Gray (president) occupied the. chair, and several visitors were present by invitation. The toast of " His Majesty King Ivdward VII." having Ijeen duly honored, the Chairman projwsed "Success" to the Pakeha Club," which was enthusiastically drunk. Several other toasts, including " The Tenth Contingent," " The Visitors," and " The Ladies," followed during the evening. A musical programme of exceptional merit was gone through, vocal itein.4 being rendered by the chairman and Mes-sis J. MTvinna, K. Philips, and P, Duncan; recitations, Messrs A. D. Aitken and S. Da vies. MrR. Phillips contributed a cou pie of comet solos, and Messrs 1). Scott and it. Ingle pianoforte selections. Several "cntlcmen present spoke in an encouraging si rain, wishing the Pakeha Club a prosperous career.
