SPECIAL TELEGRAMS.
WELLINGTON, January 2L
Mr Hurcheson has been requested by a strong following to allow himself to bo nominated for the mayoralty, the election for which takes place in April next, and also for a seat on the Harbor Board, but he tells me that business arrangements preclude his acceding to the requests. In reference to the mortality in sheep at Lovell's Flat, I ascertain from the Agricultural Department that the disease is due to overfeeding on new grass.
