THE WEATHER.
Mr Paulin telephoned afc 1 p.m. as follows:—"Squally to a gale S.E. to S.W. winds, and heavy snow, hail, and rain showers. Indications highly electrical." Captain Edwin reports :— ". N. to W. and S.W. heavy gale; glass fall but rise after ten hours from now; heavy rain; heavy sea; high tides." Our Arrowtown correspondent wires: " Snowing heavily on the hills and rainin" in the low country." Our Tapanui correspondent wires: "After a month's dry weather, it has been raining jieavily for the last twenty-four hours. There is snow on the high country." An Invercargill message states that a light snow fell this morning.
