Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. ~"PEKIN, April 2. Li Hung Chang was greeted with honors on bis return from supervising the operations for the prevention of floods in the Yellow River. It is reported that the cost of European plans to prevent floods was four, millions sterling. * HONGKONG. April 1. A small German expedition landed at Ichonfu, in the Shantung province, to punish the Chinese for their attack on a German naval patiol. Several Chinese were killed. The German fleet at Eiao-chauispre-: paring an expedition owing to the Chinese ■ firing on a German patrol at Inchan and ill-treating a missionary at Themo. The Germans have occupied the roadstead at Ngatungwei forthe purpose of occupying the towns of Schauff and InchauifF until the maintenance of order is guaranteed.
