WELLINGTON. November 17. Burglars visited the premises of Mr Batkin, tobacconist, Lambton Quay, last nignt, They broke in at the back, but, trying to enter the shop, were foiled by a steel-lined door, and went off to Hannah's boot warehouse, a few yards away, from which they made off with a cart load of boots. Several boxes full were piled at a broken window, evidently ready to be taken away, and the thieves must have had a cart waiting, but were disturbed before securing all the plunder.
