On Thursday evening, at the Congregational Manse at Port Chalmers, a number of the Rev. Mr Fisher's friends met for the purpose of presenting him with a purse of thirty-three sovereigns on the occasion of his severing his ce&nection with the church. Mrs Herbert, wife of Mr E. Herbert, of Lawrence, and eldest daughter of Mr James Smith, of Greenfield, died this morning at St. Glair. The deceased lady was widely known and universally respected.
