A soldier made a determined effort to shoot Dr Pmdeute Jose De Moraes Earros, President of the Brazilian Republic, at Rio, but was frustrated by the bystanders. Colonel Morres was slightly wounded in disarming the would-be assassin. -November 7. While disarming the assailant of the President General Bernard Vasquez, Minister of War, was stabbed to death.
