SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

The monthly meeting of the Macandrew road School Committee, held last evening, was attended by Messrs Taverner (chairman), Somerville, Milburn, J. Smith, Scott, Develin, Craig, and Todd. The head-teacher (Mr Bennett.) reported that the average attendance for the month was—Boys 216, girls 198; total, 404. Number on the roll—Boys 241, girls .225; total, 446. A resolution was passed to the effect that the Committee take steps to provide the school with a gymnasium, and it was decided to hold a concert next month in aid of the gymnasium fund. A meeting of the Albany street School Committee was held'last night, Mr A. T. Anderson in the chair. The head-master reported : Attendance roll—Boys 364, girls 400; total, 764. Average—Boys .328, girls 352; total, 683. Highest attendance on any half-day, 695. Balance savings bank to date, £144 16s 2d. The meeting adjourned till Thursday, 4th inst. At last night’s meeting of the-Gaversham School Committee (attended by all the members) it was reported that the final arrangements had been made for the holding of a concert in aid of the gymnasium fund in the Agricultural Hall during show week.
