Mr Leake's motion of want of confidence in the Government was negatived by 30 to 11 on the Premier promising to consider the tariff'next session. * SYDNEY, October 27. Sir Joseph Abbott denies that he has been offered the Agent-Generalship. The Legislative Council put up a record at last night's sitting. They passed thirteen Bills dealing with the consolidation of statutes through their second reading and committee stages. Persistent rumors are afloat that Sir George Dibbs will make an early return to political life. Sir George Dibbs, in reply to a question on the subject, emphatically denied the rumors, and stated that he had not the slightest intention of re-entering the political arena. MELBOURNE, October 28.
