The annual match North v. South, in which all players "of the game, whether members of the club or not, are invited to take > part, took place in the Otago Chess Club's Rooniß last evening. An interesting and pleasant time was spent, the northern players winning by one game. An interval was made for refreshments, during which the Rev. Canon King (president) presented the prizes won at the recent tournament to Messrs R. A. Cleland, J, G. Moody, F. Litolff, S. Martin, Mrs Mouat, and Mr Allen. The trophies were the gifts of. Messrs J. Mouat, 0. Balk (3), Warsaw, and Roberts. The following were the scores in the match:—
