LAND BOARD., Issue 10450, 21 October 1897
The weekly meeting of the Otago Crown Lands Board, held yesterday, was attended by Mr J. P. Mail-laud (Chief Commissioner) and Messrs H. Clark, W. Dallas, and H. H. Kirkpatrick. C. Hi Faisandier wrote iu regard to the price charged him for an area granted him under Vase in perpetuity at Earnscleugh r.v:, Fiuitr district.—The Board decided that they could not alter their previous decision as to the capital value of the land. Ringer Atkinson reported on the application by James Botton for a lease over sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 17, arid 20, block 5.4, town of Hampden.—Yearly licence offered uuder section 116 of the Act. E Iward Lee applied to be allowed to surrender his pastoral license over sections GO and 01, block 1, Tigar Hill district.— Surrender reco.iimsnded foi 1 acceptance. Jane R. Studholine applied for a license to occupy the area lying between her ruji No. 334, and the Clutha River, including Mount Iron, Wauaka.—Referrred to R:inger Mackenzie for rsport. Riugar Atkinson reported on the applica- J tions of Me3sr3 M'Lennan and M'Donald to be allowed to exchange two small areas upon the sections held by them, being 51 and 52, Maerewhenua Estate.—Lessees recommended to sublease to one another the areas in question. E. W. Parker applied to be allowed to surrender his pastoral license over runs 24, 240 ii, 245, 245 a, 245b, 245 c, 245 d, 310, and 340 a, Mount Pisa.—Referred to the Minister for consideration. Joseph Roberts applied for a lease in perpetuity over sixty acres of uusurveyed land upon run 249 a, Fraser district.—Applicant to obtain runholder's consent. Banger Atkinson reported that Alexander' Williamson, leasee of section 14, Tokorahi Estate, had not complied with the cropping conditions.—Required to show cause before the Board personally on the 27th inst. why the lease should not be declared forfeited. M. Lee applied for a lease over the Quarry Reserve, section 21, block 7, Waihemo dis-trict-.—Referred to the Waihemo County Council to see if they had auy objection. The Receiver of Land Revenue reported that George Cassey, whose lease in perpetuity over s :ctions 214, Glenomaru district, was declared forfeited for non-payment of rent, had now paid arrears.—Resolution forfeiting the lease was rescinded. Ewen Cameron applied to surreader. sections 2, block 9, Hummonk ; 4, block 8, Nenthora; and 3, block 8, Silver Peak districts.—Referred to rarg>r for report. David M'Nutt applied to be allowed to purchase land held under lease in perpetuity, section 41, block 1, Catlins district.—Purchase authorised.
Mr W. L. Simpson, on behalf of Mrs J. Kirke, applied to acquire on lease in perpetuity an area of about 300 acres of unsurveyed land upon runs 212 i? and 212 c, Greenvale district. Referred to Ranger Hughan for report. The • following applications to transfer were approved :—John Reid to Alexander Cumeron, section 20, block 7, Upper Taieri district; James Matheson to Murdoch Graham, sections 17, 24, and part of 25, block 4, Mount Hyde district; and James Neville to Thomas Neville, section 9, block 3, Poolburn district. An applicition by William G. Bachan to transfer to James Hewitt an occupation with right to purchase license over section 19, block 8, Tuapeka West district, was disallowed, as the conditions of the license had not been complied with. The following holders of areas under the Land for Settlements Act are reported as being in arrear with their rent, due Ist July last:—Maerewhenm Estate : Labella Daw, Oliver Smith, Henry Elstone, A. Sheard, and M. K.-Parkes. ArJgowan Estate : Winnie Flaunery. Makareao. Estate : J. Duncan, iun., P. T. Walsh, C. Walsh, and A. Duncin.—The Board will require payment within ono month.
