LONDON, )October 11. At to-day's wool sales competition was less keen, and prices had a downward tendency.

October 12. Wool met with a hetter sale to-day though faulty sorts are still irregular. ' October 13. There was keen competition at the wool sales yesterday.

The next sales begin on November 25 and the second series on January 18. At' both of these the catalogues are unlimited. The third sales are fixed for March 15' and the catalogue is restricted to 300,000 bales.

MELBOURNE. October 13. At the opening of the sales the attendance was large, and competition for all sections was keen. Continental buyers operated most freely. Merinoes averaged about 10 per cent, above last year's opening rates, better classes slightly exceeding this. Quotations for cross-breds were about the same level as last year.
