A Melbourne restaurant keeper, who came to financial grief last year, and went off to Coolgardie with the best wishes of his creditors, has rewarded their confidenoe by remitting a cheque for the payment of all his debts in full and a bit over. The surplus was expended on a dinner to celebrate the joyful event. Mr H. D, Bell will not stand for re-elec-tion as Mayor of Wellington. So far Mr George Fisher, M.H.R., is the only candidate announced. Everybody should join Montague's Circulating Library; subscription, 2s 6d per quarter. New books added weekly.
