ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Hugh Guthrie, driver of the donkey engine on the s.s. Herald, had two of the fingers of his left hand severely crushed yesterday while passing a rope round the winch, and was attended to at the hospital. The body of a swagger, apparently about thirty years of age, was found on the road near Teschemaker’s Otaio Station. He bad in his swag a savings bank pass book in the name of John Menchen,
Mr Coroner Carew was holding an inquest at Seaclitf this afternoon in connection with the sudden death of William Lloyd yesterday.
Mrs O’Brien, wife of John O’Brien, was found dead on the floor of her house at Roslyn this morning. The matter has been reported to the coroner.
