HIGH SCHOOLS’ BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Otago High Schools’ Board of Governors was held this afternoon, when there were present Messrs J. P. M. Fraser (chairman), J.-jVl'Rae Gallaway, J. R. Sinclair, and Dr Brown. The Secretary of the Dunedin and Kaikorai Tramway Company wrote offering £ls as a compensation for 35 poles of land held by the Board under lease from the Presbyterian Church Board, and £54 13s 9d for the freehold of 16 poles of part of section 5, .block 9, City of Dunedin.—lt was resolved that the solicitors be instructed to claim in respect of the freehold the sum of £4OO, and in respect of the leasehold £SO; such claim to be made without prejudice to the Board’s objection to the taking of the said freehold, the same being now laid out as a garden. The Clerk of the Waitaki County Council wrote stating, in reply to the Board with reference to an application from Mr W. Aberdeen for a road, that as the right-of-way in question is a private road the Council have no control over it.—The letter was received and ordered to be forwarded to the Land Board.
Mrs E. Carter wrote offering to lease section 23, block 13, Oamaru town, by the year at £l|per annum,—Resolved: “That the land be offered to Mrs Carter at £2 per annum.”
Accounts amounting to £6OO 13s 3dVere passed for paymen
