FIRE BRIGADE MATTERS.
■ _ Wellington, October 5. The Fire Brigade Committee of the City Council intend to recommend that all firemen’s houses shall, be connected with electric alarms, at a cost of £IOO. The question of increasing tho pay stands over till, the close of the financial year, when, if the mayor’s financial proposals are carried, the brigade will be reorganised. - The captain of the brigade informed the Committee that he had had an interview with the Premier, who promised to introduce legislation in the direction of compelling insurance companies to pay their share of the cost of brigades.
