[Per Prkss Association.—Copyright.]

LONDON, October 3.

The Hundred Yards Swimming Race (heats) at Hornsey Bath was won by Tyers, who beat Derbyshire and Hellings, who beat Cohen (England), Lindberg (Australian) being a touch behind. The final resulted in a magnificent struggle. Hellings swam forty-four yards in twentyfive seconds, and was clear of his opponents at seventy-six yards, then being a yard ahead of Derbyshire and a yard and a-half ahead of Tyers. Hellings unfortunately missed the final turn, and Tyers, with a splendid spurt, won by six inches ; Hellings and Derbyshire making a deadheat of it for second place. Time, 63 3-ssec.
