SYDNEY, October 1. The local Tommy Atkins continues to be enthusiastic in his desire for death or its companion glory in helping the Motherland. Now that India is practically closed to him his attention is turned to the forthcoming Egyptian campaign, ihe Government took no action whatever in regard to the offer of men for India, and are rather cool over Egypt The latter affair is not very prominently before the public at present; besides, an unpleasant flavor of the Soudan fiasco still lingers in the political mouth.
