LONDON, September 20. The Board of Trade's intervention iu tho engineers' strike proved fruitless, their recommendations not being acceptable to either side.
The strike is now extending to Bristol and Otley.
Four thousand men are idle at Gray's shipyard at Hartlepool and a thousand at Denny's at Dumbarton. Acute distress is being experienced at Bolton. The funds of tho Amalgamated Union of Machine and General Laborers are exhausted.
