LAND BOARD.

The weekly meeting of the Otago Land Board, held yesterday, was attended by Mr J. P. Maitland (Commissioner of Crown Lands) and Messrs W. Dallas, H. Clark, J. Duucan, and H. H. Kirkpatrick. Robert Matheson applied for a renewal of license to occupy sections 6 and 7, block 8, Rock and Pillar, district.—Yearly license granted under section 116 of Act at a rent of £1 ss, with license fee of £1 Is, to date from 24th June last.

On consideration of the case of Alexander M'Auley, lessee of section 26, Teaneraki Settlement, who was called upon to show cause why his holding should not be declared forfeited for non-compliance with residence conditions, the Board declared the lease forfeited. Ranger to make valuation of improvements, aud the land to be offered at the former capital value. G. M'Donald applied for a renewal of his license to occupy part of section 41, block 1, Maungatua Estate.—Yearly license granted at a rental of 17s, with £1 la license fee, to date from 20th June last.

Rose Creighton applied for a license to occupy the reserve lying between Kokonga and the Taieri Lake.—Declined.

Messrs M'Adam aud Co. applied to have section 22, block 14, Maniototo district, opened for sale.—Declined, as the area in question may be required for a school site. Messrs Murray, Roberts, and Co. applied for a refund of rent paid by them upon the following areas since the dates the undermentioned were granted occupation licenses • —E. Wells, 100 acres, 28th March, 1893 ; J. Paul, 25 acres ; D. Baird, 25 acres ; and G. Irvine, 25 acres ; all from Julv, 1892. Refund authorised (£ls 17s 7d). The application of Sarah Jane Wright to transfer lease in perpetuity over section la, Puketapu Estate, to David Wright was approved.

Alfred Godsall applied for a license for three year 3 over section 118, block 3, Papakio Estate. License for five years granted under Reserves Ace, 1881, at a yearly rental of £l, conditional on gorse being eradicated within one year from date of license.

Balmoral Road Board aud Taieii County Council forwarded statements of proposed expenditure of " thirds" and "fourths" accrued during period Ist April to 31st July, IS97.—Approved. John Beat-tie applied to surrender smallgrazing run, section 2, block 6, Strath Taieri district.—Board cannot entertain application unless the current half-years rent is paid. The application of James Horn to complete purchase of land held under agricultural lease, section 24, block 1, Cromwell district, was approved. Ranger Atkinson forwarded valuation of improvements upon section 73, Ardgowan Estate, forfeited by Miss L. CoUingham.— Section to be reoffered at- former capital value, with valuation for improvements, £3O.

Ranger Atkinsou also forwarded valuation of improvements upon section 65, Makareio Estate, forfeited by James Kenuelly, jun., and valuation upon section 70, same estate, forfeited by James Riddell.—Both sections to be reoffered at previous capital value, the former with £23 13s valuation for improvements, and the latter £9 5s 6d.

William Forrester aud John Campbell, lessees of sections 83 and 85, Ardgowan Estate, applied to have section 86 divided between them.—Declined.
